Campus Writing Program

The Campus Writing Program strengthens curriculum across disciplines by supporting Writing Intensive courses. A leader in Writing Across the Curriculum theories and practices, the CWP supports instructors in educating students through principles of “writing-to-learn” and “learning-to-write” through faculty development programming.

Discovery Center

Discovery Center offers advising for undecided majors and students from across campus considering a change in major or in need of assistance in determining new options. Discovery Center works collaboratively with students to find the best fit between the student’s interest ­and abilities and what the university has to offer, and helps students navigate through college.

General Education

General Education courses are the foundation upon which all University of Missouri degrees are built, and all undergraduate students must fulfill the General Education requirements.

Hesburgh Scholarship

The TIAA-CREF Hesburgh Endowment Fund enables MU’s General Education Program to award each spring four $1,000 academic achievement scholarships to one student from each of the four undergraduate classes. Students may apply for these awards or be nominated by a faculty member.

Honors College

The Honors College provides the services and engagement of a small college with the breadth of a large university through scholarship, research opportunities and service-learning. Nearly 200 unique honors courses are offered each year. Additionally, more than $1.6 million in endowed scholarships help the Honors College attract a diverse group of high-achieving students so they can excel in all facets of their education.

Learning Center

The Learning Center offers free academic services and tutoring through student-centered, interactive and effective academic support. Peer and professional instruction is offered through tutoring, help sessions, exam reviews and study plan consultations.

Mizzou Online

Mizzou Online brings more than 100 University of Missouri graduate and undergraduate degree and certificate options to the World Wide Web, with 1,000-plus online class options that deliver the same quality educational experience as MU on-campus programs.

MU Connect

MU Connect is student tracking, early alert, appointment scheduling and retention online application that supports student success and engagement. It allows instructors to communicate concerns or kudos and refer students to resources, while also providing an online scheduling feature to set up appointments or group meetings.

Service Learning

Service-Learning provides opportunities and academic credit for experience-based learning to promote lifelong commitment to social responsibility and public service. Service-Learning at MU strives to develop civic, corporate and social responsibility while enhancing the students’ personal growth and enriching the lives of persons within the community.

Undergraduate Research

Undergraduate research facilitates, promotes and encourages research opportunities for undergraduate students to explore the unknown through hands-on work with faculty mentors. The office organizes several forums and poster sessions for students to share their work on campus and provides opportunities for students to travel and present at conferences across the U.S. and around the world.

Writing Center

The Writing Center offers free writing support to all MU students. Face-to-face and online assistance is available for all stages of the writing process from initial brainstorming through the final draft.

Educational Technologies

Academic Support Center

The Academic Support Center promotes and assists teaching, research and service through educational communication technologies. ASC oversees technology installations, upgrades and maintenance in campus auditoriums and classrooms. Additionally, ASC provides a host of creative resources including audio, video, photography, graphic arts and other multimedia services.

Educational Technologies

Educational Technologies assists instructors in integrating meaningful and innovative forms of technology into the classroom to improve teaching and learning. Services focus on pedagogical design and technology innovation and excellence, including course redesign programs and instructional design consultations.
