Junior honors student Tanner Smith has spent his time at Mizzou undertaking a variety of research projects. Whether it is studying the effects of minority focused news through the ASH Scholars program, having an article under review at the Journal of Preventative Medicine about the events that result in media coverage of colon cancer, or using his research knowledge to get others involved in research as an undergraduate research ambassador, Tanner has made research his priority. As a result, he was awarded a Fulbright Canada Mitacs Globalink Research Internship for this upcoming summer to conduct research in Winnipeg. In the future, Tanner hopes to use these research experiences to pursue a PhD in Communication on his way to becoming a professor.
