As a first-generation student from a farming town Randi Noel initially wanted to study agronomy. However, she developed a passion for research when she was selected to participate in the Freshman Research in Plant Science Program (FRIPS) under Dr. Richard Ferrieri’s mentorship. Evolving into a proficient researcher, she has four publications and several poster presentations including her most recent at the Undergraduate Research Day at the State Capital. As a Student Ambassador, Randi speaks to her peers in outreach to promote MU undergraduate research. She also has a keen interest in soil and has participated in four soil judging competitions across the country with the MU Soil Judging Team. Expecting to graduate in December 2024, Randi aspires to earn a PhD in plant/soil science and become a professor. She will continue her journey of discovery through an internship this summer with Summer Opportunities in Agricultural Research and the Environment (SOARE) at the University of Maryland.
