Senior Jayden Francois has been part of the Astronomy and Physics Club for the last four years. Though he’s never taken an officer position, he’s acted as a senior member for a while, helping the new officer understand their positions and contributing to the culture of the Physics department. He’s been part of the Maximizing Access to Research Careers (MARC) / Initiative for Maximizing Student Diversity (IMSD) Fellowship for three years, working on research topics on Supermassive black holes in Galaxies in Dr. Yicheng Guo’s lab in studying galaxy morphology and evolution. He’s also tried to support all of the minority physics majors, helping them have a home in a field that is typically lacking their representatives. As part of his goal to pursue a graduate degree and continue his career in academia, Jayden is applying to a bridge program where he will research topics in Gravitational Wave astronomy.
