Sophomore Josh Donaldson has grown interested in the social issues that impact his hometown and much of the state. In August of 2022, he joined the MU Math Study, a project to identify key factors in the home and school environment that contribute to a child’s mathematical understanding. Since September of 2023, he has studied skeletal muscle regeneration of volumetric muscle loss, a type of injury that accounts for over 50% of civilian and military traumas.
Outside of research and class, he is involved with Engineers Without Borders, Mizzou Engineering Student Council, and was recently named the Executive Director of Tiger Pantry and Truman’s Closet.
This summer, Josh will study Swahili in Tanzania as a Critical Language Scholar. Passionate about education, healthcare and food insecurity, he hopes to become a family medicine physician who works in under-resourced communities in Missouri and abroad.
