The lighting design process for Good Kids was challenging in many ways. After my first meeting with the director, I knew the limitations of the space would be my biggest challenge. Working in MU’s Corner Playhouse forces you to be as efficient as possible —space, lighting and control of lighting is limited. I made careful use of color to achieve my aesthetic. The show discusses the many influences of social media in today’s society, so the goal of my design was to make the show feel as though it was being watched through an Instagram or other social media photo filter.
