RËXIdentity is king. This work is about black male identity. Without an identity, there is no true way of existing because you become a slave to your environment and whatever else influences you. Black men are targeted by systems, such as the media, that force unwanted stereotypes and identities on us. We do not have the luxury of being “normal,” and we are not represented as such. I am interested in the way we take on the identities that are placed on us, and the way we reject these misrepresentations and stereotypes in the pursuit of creating our own identity.
