“Arch Studies” – Samantha Beiter

The design problem I am solving is how to best connect the users of the space to the busy lakefront without compromising their privacy. The Lake of the Ozarks is a very active and sometimes crowded area, which attracts many people. However, since this is intended to be a vacation home, privacy and relaxation are also important. The site for this home on Grant Pointe Island is at the end of a peninsula, giving it the most panoramic views of the lake. My design maximizes these views by spanning the length of the peninsula and opening up large windows and curtain walls on the main floor, which houses the public living spaces (kitchen, dining, living).
