Approximately 5,411 students received degrees during spring commencement ceremonies May 17–19, 2019, at the University of Missouri. As newborn alumni tossed caps, embraced classmates and dabbed a few Tiger tears of joy, thoughts immediately turned to the future at hand.
“I’m heading home to Kennett, Missouri, for a few months and then to Saint Louis University to start law school in July,” says Alli Mowrer, a fourth-generation Missouri Tiger who received her bachelor’s degree in health sciences. “My mom keeps laughing at me because I’m so emotional about leaving Mizzou. She keeps saying, ‘They kicked us out after graduation, too. We’re still alive!’ ”
MU awarded 5,982 degrees, including 4,415 bachelor’s degrees, 948 master’s degrees, 248 doctorates, 86 law degrees, 109 veterinary medicine degrees, 95 medicine degrees, 58 professional degrees and 23 education specialist degrees. Some students received more than one degree. More than 600 online students, who come from 46 states and five countries, also graduated.
